A New Chapter: What’s Next for Evin Thayer Studios

A Letter from Evin Thayer

After more than 40 years of creating art that I love and will forever cherish, it is with great reverence and humility that I share my retirement from Evin Thayer Studios. While I will still serve as an advisory member of the studio team, I will no longer be photographing clients.

A little over a year ago, I began working with fellow award-winning and seasoned Houston portrait photographers, Laura King and Allison McPhail, with the intention of transitioning the business to them fully. Laura and Allison bring a wonderful, revitalized energy to the studio, marrying traditional portraiture with a modern approach. Their combined expertise means a more diversified skill set, allowing them to serve even more families and businesses.

While I’ve had the pleasure of shooting the likes of Hakeem Olajuwon, Mary Lou Retton, astronaut John Glenn, George and Barbara Bush, Kenny Rogers, Walter Cronkite, Lynn Wyatt, and Bill White among others—as a third-generation Houstonian—my greatest joy has been in working with you, my local community.

It has been an absolute honor to serve the Greater Houston area for more than four decades and while stepping back has been bittersweet, I know that I am leaving the studio in more-than-capable, highly-talented, and service-driven hands.

I am proud to know that my namesake studio will live on through Laura and Allison’s vision and expertise, as I transition into a retirement filled with the love of family and friends.

Thank you kindly for your continued support.

Yours in Gratitude,
Evin Thayer
