Dress up time doesn’t have to end at childhood! Personally, I love Halloween, or any occasion where I’m able to step away from the day-to-day routine and immerse myself into the fun of being some other character for a few hours. Stop by the studio sometime and I’ll tell you some stories…how about the about the year I dressed up as a policeman for Halloween? Whoo, boy! But seriously, more and more people are figuring out that the fun’s not limited to just Halloween. In a city as diverse and culturally rich as Houston, sometimes it seems like there’s some cleverly themed costume party, or inspired dress-up event around every corner! Here at Evin Thayer Studios, we’ve been sharing the fun with our friends, shooting Fantasy Photos, dress-up, or cosplay all year ‘round. I think many of us secretly love the fun escape of dressing for a part. Make believe in adulthood just gets more creative, expressive and sexy. One coffee table style photo book I recently did for a client just blew me away. She does a wonderful show that focuses on the life of Marilyn Monroe, and then donates the proceeds to benefit non-profit organizations. The planning and attention to detail are perfect, and the props and dresses she incorporated into her Marilyn show and portrait session look like they could have actually belonged to Marilyn at some point! Her hairstylist and makeup artist worked onsite here at the studio, and with every change of outfit they also adjusted her hair and makeup to authenticate the look. The finished photo album was a unique work of art that showcased so many iconic Marilyn Monroe moments. My client let me have a lot of fun with the layout; I was given creative license to play! My production team and I came up with some eye-catching effects and a really fun album layout that had so much diversity and color punch. Stop by our studio to check it out. My photography studio is open Tuesday through Saturday at 405 Avondale Street Houston, TX 77006 just off of Westheimer, near downtown Houston.
