The Perks of Getting Professional Hair & Makeup for Your Photo Session

Whether your professional photoshoot is for a family portrait, business or commercial website, social media content, or to celebrate personal milestones, we encourage you to consider getting professional hair and make-up for your photo session.

It’s important to know that makeup for on camera is much different than makeup for everyday. It often requires different contouring, highlights, layers, and even specific brands that hold up better in front of lights or from a distance. Did you know that some make-up can react with the studio flash, causing it to shift color in your portrait?? Suddenly, the makeup that looks so natural and beautiful in daylight can completely change in a photograph! Yikes! For those not used to applying makeup at all, having someone who knows what they’re doing can not only reduce your stress but can make you feel pretty awesome too!

Here three reasons why hiring a professional hair and makeup artist makes sense!

  1. Less worry.
The last thing you want to do is worry about wasting time getting your hair and makeup just right. What if the eyeliner gets messed up and you have to start over and then you’re running late for your booking, so you start sweating?? Then you arrive all flustered and maybe you look stressed out in your photos. Plus, having an extra set of eyes to ensure everything is ‘in place,’ never hurts.Maybe you’re someone who doesn’t wear makeup at all but will need some basics to be in front of the camera. It’s best to let a pro handle this!  Our skilled make-up artists will apply just the right amount so you don’t look “made-up” but still look like yourself!
  2. They know what they’re doing. Like we mentioned earlier, on-camera makeup is much different than everyday makeup. Even if you’re used to wearing makeup on the daily, the types of highlights, contouring, shades, and even brands (that are intended specifically for on-camera use) can be very different.
  3. Feel amazing & boost confidence.
Possibly the greatest perk is a day of pampering. Feel like a model for the day!  Not only do you get to feel a bit glam because, hello, photoshoot(!) but spending some time getting to relax, be taken care of, and get glammed up for your day might be pretty nice. This is especially nice for new moms or those coming in for their newborn or family portrait photo sessions. After giving birth or just a stressful time in general, imagine a day spent investing in yourself. Relaxing, getting taken care of, and being fully relaxed and ready to be in front of the camera. Not to mention that little boost of confidence you may experience knowing you look absolutely fabulous! ::wink::

Look, by the time your photoshoot day arrives, you’ve likely already spent a good amount of time planning, scheduling, getting everything in order- so why not plan the day itself for a little self-care time. It couldn’t be easier, especially since we bring this service right to the studio!
