We are saddened by the loss of Dr. James H. “Red” Duke, Jr. and our hearts go out to his family. He was truly a joy to be around and always brought his wit and smile everywhere he went. The last time I had the opportunity to catch up with Dr. “Red” Duke I photographed him in the surgery room at Memorial Hermann.  Evin Thayer Photography; Houston Photography; Professional Photography; Red Duke;I even had to put on scrubs or as they call them “bunny suits”. As we walked the hospital hallways he greeted everyone with enthusiasm and it really was apparent he was still the star of the show at Memorial Hermann.  His energy and devotion to helping other people made him a true Texas hero. Countless families are in his debt for the life saving services of Life Flight. He established Houston’s Hermann Hospital Life Flight operations in 1976 and was the medical director of its trauma and emergency services. We all know someone who has been aided by this amazing service and Houston’s emergency services would not have been the same without it. Thank you, Red.
